Rabbit polyclonal antibody to ACTH.

This antibody recognises human adrenocorticotrophic hormone, also known as corticotrophin. ACTH is a 4.5 kDa hormone derived from cleavage of pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC), produced in the pituitary gland in response to corticotrophin releasing hormone (CRH) activity and functions to stimulate release of adrenal cortisol. recognises the ACTH cleavage fragment a-melanocyte stimulating hormone (a-MSH), responsible for melanin pigmentation control in most vertebrate species. Rabbit anti Human ACTH does not recognize the C-terminal ACTH cleavage product, corticotropin-like intermediary peptide (CLIP).
