The Apoptosis Detection Kit (Annexin V FITC + 7-AAD) is a fluorescence-based assay intended for the in vitro identification of apoptotic and necrotic cells through phosphatidylserine exposure and membrane integrity analysis using flow cytometry or fluorescence microscopy.
Applications
Flow cytometry, Cell Death, Appoptosis
Recommended Dilutions
Principle of Assay
This kit is designed for accurate apoptosis analysis through detection of phosphatidylserine exposure on the cell surface. FITC-labeled Annexin V binds exposed phosphatidylserine in a calcium-dependent manner, marking early apoptotic cells. The DNA dye 7-AAD selectively stains cells with disrupted membranes, enabling discrimination of late apoptotic and necrotic populations. The dual-staining approach supports robust apoptosis profiling by flow cytometry or fluorescence microscopy.
Sample Type
Live cells in single-cell suspension, including cultured cells and freshly isolated primary cells.
Emission Maxima
520 nm, 700 nm
Purity
Storage
Store at +4°C for 1 year.

Flow cytometry analysis using Apoptosis Detection Kit (Annexin V-FITC + 7-AAD). Untreated Jurkat cells are shown in the left panel, while camptothecin-treated Jurkat cells are shown in the right panel. Annexin V FITC detects externalized phosphatidylserine as an early marker of apoptosis, and 7-AAD stains cells with compromised membrane integrity, enabling discrimination of viable, early apoptotic, and late apoptotic or necrotic cell populations.
