Principle of Assay
This kit enables reliable detection and quantification of apoptotic and necrotic cells based on phosphatidylserine externalization. During early apoptosis, phosphatidylserine translocates to the outer plasma membrane, where it is specifically recognized by calcium-dependent Annexin V FITC. Propidium iodide stains cells with compromised membrane integrity, allowing clear discrimination between viable, early apoptotic, late apoptotic, and necrotic populations. The assay is optimized for flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy and provides consistent, reproducible results across diverse cell types.
