Principle of Assay
This kit provides a convenient tool for detection of HDL-cholesterol (HDL-C). The principle is that HDL-C in serum is separated with a precipitant, and cholesterol esterase is used to catalyze the hydrolysis of cholesterol ester into free cholesterol and free fatty acid. Subsequently, cholesterol oxidase catalyzes the oxidation of the free cholesterol to produce delta-4-cholestenone and hydrogen peroxide. Then peroxidase catalyzes the oxidation of 4-amino-antipyrine and phenol by hydrogen peroxide to produce a red quinone compound which has a characteristic absorption peak at 500 nm.
