Principle of Assay
This kit provides a convenient tool for detection of mitochondrial complex III activity. The principle is Complex III can transfer the hydrogen from reduced CoQ to cytochrome C to produce reduced cytochrome C. Unlike oxidized cytochrome C, reduced cytochrome C has a characteristic absorption at 550 nm. So, the increasing absorbance at 550 nm reflects the activity of Complex III. The kit can measure activity in animal and plant tissues and cell samples.
