Specificity
Rabbit anti c-Jun (pSer73) antibody recognizes proto-oncogene c-Jun, also known as transcription factor AP-1, activator protein 1 (AP1), V-jun avian sarcoma virus 17 oncogene homolog and p39, when phosphorylated at serine 73. The c-Jun transcription factor is encoded by the c-jun oncogene and dimerizes with c-Fos, JDP and ATF family members to form the AP-1 transcription factor. AP-1 is activated by a variety of stimuli including cytokines, stress and growth factors and plays a critical role in cellular processes ranging from proliferation to apoptosis.c-Jun becomes phosphorylated on Serine 63 and Serine 73 by MAPK8 (SAPK/JNK) and PLK3, which regulate c-Jun transcription. c-Jun has been implicated in early tumor development, invasion and metastasis and due to these findings has been identified as a target for cancer therapies.
