This antibody recognises pro-cathepsin H, also known as CTSH and CPSB. Cathepsin H is a lysosomal cysteine protease that is synthesized as an inactive proenzyme composed of prodomain and catalytic domains. It is currently unclear if the processing/cleavage of the proenzyme is performed by an autocatalytic method or requires other enzymes for its activation. Cathepsin H has been reported to be overexpressed in human prostate tumor cells.
