Specificity
This antibody recognises caveolin 3, also known as M-caveolin.Caveolin 3 is the major structural protein of caveolae in muscle. Mutations in the CAV3 gene have been shown to result in a number of different types of myopathies with altered membrane integrity and repair, protein expression, and cell signaling regulation in the cells of muscle tissue. Up-regulation of caveolin in senescent cells attenuates EGF signaling.
