Name
Anti-CNTF Antibody - BSA and Azide free
Description
Rabbit polyclonal antibody to CNTF.
Specificity
This antibody recognises human CNTF (ciliary neurotrophic factor), a 200 amino acid homodimeric neurotrophic and differentiation factor of the CNTF family, which supports the survival and differentiation of several motor neuron types within the nervous system, but also affects other target tissues, including skeletal muscle , glial cells, hepatocytes and embryonic stem cells.CNTF mainly signals through binding to a receptor complex consisting of a CNTFRa subunit, two beta components, gp130 and LIFR, resulting ultimately in the activation of JAK/STAT signalling pathway, but CNTF has also been shown to bind to the receptor for interleukin-6 (IL-6R).
Applications
WB, ELISA, IHC-P, Functional Assays
Dilutions
ELISA: 0.5 - 2 µg/ml, Functional Assays: 7.0 - 11 µg/ml, IHC-P: 0.25 µg/ml, WB: 0.1 - 0.2 µg/ml
Reactivity
Human
Immunogen
Recombinant human CNTF.
Host
Rabbit
Clonality
Polyclonal
Isotype
IgG

Unconjugated

Concentration
1 mg/ml after reconstitution.
Product Form
Lyophilized
Reconstitution
Reconstitute with 0.1 ml of distilled water. Care should be taken during reconstitution as the protein may appear as a film at the bottom of the vial. Gently mix after reconstitution. For long term storage the addition of 0.09% sodium azide is recommended. For functional studies do not add sodium azide
Formulation
Supplied in Phosphate Buffered Saline.
Storage
Lyophilized: Store at -20°C. Reconstituted: Store undiluted at -20°C, avoid freeze / thaw cycles. Storage in frost free freezers is not recommended. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
