General Notes
Mouse anti Pig CSF1R, clone ROS8G11, recognizes the porcine homologue of human CSF1R, also known as CSF-1R, M-CSF receptor, CD115 and c-fms. CSF1R (CD115) is a single pass type 1 transmembrane protein belonging to the type III protein kinase family and is the cell surface receptor for both CSF1 and IL-34. Evidence from comparative sequence analysis across a range of vertebrate species indicates that CSF1 and IL-34 interact with distinct regions of CSF1R (Garceau et al. 2010).CSF1R cell surface expression appears to be one of the earliest events in macrophage lineage cell commitment and CSF1R expression appears primarily limited to macrophages (Garceau et al. 2010). The development of the monoclonal antibody ROS8G11 specifically recognizing porcine CSF1R provides an antibody that will assist with research into porcine monocyte and macrophage biology (Moffat et al. 2014). Clone ROS8G11 has been tested for cross reactivity in a limited number of species, and while it does not recognize human or equine CSFR1, it has been shown to recognize canine CD115.
