This antibody recognises Histone H2A.J.Histone H2A.J is a 16 kDa variant of the H2A histone. Histones are nuclear proteins that regulate the nucleosome structure of the chromosomal fibres in eukaryotic cells. Nucleosomes are the smallest subunit of chromatin and are made up of 146 bp of DNA wrapped around an octamer comprised of pairs of the four core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4) (Smith, 1991). Histone H2A.J may be linked to senescence and upregulation of the expression of inflammatory genes. Histone H2A.J may therefore play a role in chronic inflammation and age-related diseases.
