This antibody recognises CD126/IL-6R, also known as interleukin-6 receptor subunit alpha. CD126/IL-6R is a member of the type I cytokine receptor family. CD126/IL-6R binds to IL-6, the IL-6/IL-6R complex then associates with two molecules of interleukin 6 signal transducer (IL6ST), leading to signaling via the JAK/STAT pathway.
