Name
Anti-Properdin / PFC Antibody [062-260 (10-24)]
Description
Mouse monoclonal [062-260 (10-24)] antibody to Properdin / PFC.
Specificity
This antibody recognises human complement factor P, a 53 kDa glycosylated protein present in serum. Factor P binds to microbial surfaces and binds and stabilizes the complement component 3- and complement component 5-convertase enzyme complexes. C3b then acts as an opsonin or initiates the complement pathway again creating a positive feedback loop which acts only on the bacterial cell, leaving the host cells unharmed. Deficiency of factor P makes the host more susceptible to bacterial infections, particularly to Neisseria species and meningococcal infections. Mouse anti Human complement factor P antibody, clone 10-24 does not inhibit function of complement factor P.
