Name
Anti-TIM 4 Antibody [ROS-JH9]
Description
Mouse monoclonal [ROS-JH9] antibody to TIM 4.
Specificity
This antibody recognises chicken TIM-4 (T-cell immunoglobulin mucin 4).In mice, TIM-4 is largely expressed on antigen-presenting cells and involved in phagocytosis of apoptotic cells with, additionally, a regulatory role in T-cell responses. In chickens, the gene for TIM-4 codes for a minimum of five splice variants that vary between stains. Myeloid antigen-presenting cells and ?d T cells express chTIM4; in contrast to mammalian T cells which do not express TIM-4. Research conducted by Hu et al. using Mouse anti Chicken TIM-4 antibody, clone ROS-JH9, revealed that it can detect all isoforms of chicken TIM-4. Clone ROS-JH9 was found to stain bone marrow macrophages from J line birds, a cell population that was also positive for clone KUL01 MCA5770. Further work characterized a distinct TIM-4 bearing set of phagocytes in the bursa and showed that approximately 50% of blood monocytes in chicken express detectable levels of TIM-4.
