This antibody recognises tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases 2 (TIMP-2) also known as metalloproteinase inhibitor 2 and CSC-21K. TIMP-2 belongs to the protease inhibitor I35 family of proteins and irreversibly inactivates metalloproteinases by complexing and binding to the catalytic zinc cofactor.
