Name
Anti-VASP (pSer157) Antibody
Description
Rabbit anti VASP (pSer157)
Specificity
Rabbit anti VASP (pSer157) antibody recognizes vasodilator-stimulated phosphoprotein (VASP), when phosphorylated at serine 157. VASP belongs to the Ena/VASP family and is associated with actin filaments and focal adhesions. It is involved in the remodeling of the actin cytoskeleton and platelet aggregation (Machesky, L.M. 2000, Krause, M. et al. 2003 & Aszodi, A. et al. 1999). In platelets VASP is phosphorylated on serine 157 by PKC and Rho kinases in response to thrombin (Wentworth, J.K. et al. 2006). Phosphorylation of VASP regulates its interaction with actin (Harbeck, B. et al. 2000). In smooth muscle cells, phosphorylation of VASP on serine 157 promotes proliferation (Chen, L. et al. 2004).
