General Notes
Mouse anti Human YKL-40 antibody, clone G03-2H1, recognizes YKL-40, also known as chitinase-3-like protein 1, 39kDA synovial protein and cartilage glycoprotein 39. YKL-40 is a glycoprotein and a member of the mammalian chitinase-like proteins (Johansen et al. 2006). It is expressed by a variety of cells including macrophages, neutrophils, chondrocytes, fibroblasts, vascular smooth muscle cells, endothelial cells and epithelials cells (Lee et al. 2011). YKL-40 induces the maturation of monocytes to macrophages and is secreted by macrophages during late stages of differentiation and by activated macrophages. It has also been shown to be an adhesion and migration factor for vascular cells (Rathcke & Vestergaard 2009). The biotinylated Mouse anti Human YKL-40 antibody, clone G03-2H1 (MCA6291B) can be used as a detection antibody in a sandwich ELISA with the purified Mouse anti Human YKL-40 antibody, clone G06-10H11 (MCA6290GA) as the capture antibody.
