This Hydroxyl Free Radical Scavenging Capacity Assay Kit is a quantitative assay kit for measuring Hydroxyl Free Radical Scavenging Capacity in animal and plant tissues, serum, plasma, cells, bacteria, cell supernatant, juice, and honey.
Applications
Functional Studies
Assay Type
Quantitative
Principle of Assay
Hydroxyl radicals generated by the Fenton reaction react with salicylic acid to form a colored product. Antioxidants reduce product formation, and the decrease in absorbance at 520 nm reflects scavenging capacity.
Platform
96-Well Microplate, Microcuvette
Sample Type
Animal and plant tissues, serum, plasma, cells, bacteria, culture supernatant, juice, and honey
Assay Time
30-60 minutes
Components
Ferrous Salt, Hydrogen Peroxide, Salicylic acid, Free-HSA Negative Control
Storage
Shipped at 4°C. Refer to the Protocol Manual for storage conditions of individual components. Do not use past expiration date!
General Notes
A 96-well microplate or microglass cuvette is required for this assay.
