Specificity
Rabbit anti EIF4G1 (pSer1232) antibody recognizes serine/threonine-protein kinase D1, also known as eIF-4-gamma 1, eIF-4G 1, p220, when phosphorylated at serine 1232. During protein synthesis, interaction between eIF4G and eIF4E is essential for the formation of the eIF4F complex (Gingras et al. 2004). In addition, eIF4G enhances binding of eIF4E to the mRNA 5' cap (Haghighat and Sonenberg 1997). Increased eIF4G1 expression in prostate cancer samples in associated with tumor progression (Jaiswal et al. 2018). Phosphorylation of eIF4G1 on serine 1232 is mediated through mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) (Gluck et al. 2018).
