Human TGF beta 1 ELISA Kit

Sandwich (quantitative)

This Human TGF beta 1 ELISA Kit applies a technique called quantitative sandwich immunoassay. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with a monoclonal antibody specific for TGF beta 1. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells and incubated. TGF beta 1 if present, will bind and become immobilized by the antibody pre-coated on the wells. The microtiter plate wells are thoroughly washed to remove any unbound TGF beta 1 and other components of the sample. A biotinylated Anti-TGF beta 1 detection antibody is then added followed by Streptavidin-HRP. Addition of TMB substrate will result in a colored substrate product. The reaction is stopped with sulfuric acid and the optical density can be quantified using an ELISA plate reader. The concentration of analyte is determined by comparison to a serial dilution of the ELISA standard in parallel.

TGF beta 1 is secreted in a latent, biologically inactive form, non-covalently linked with Latency Associated Protein (LAP). Anti-TGF beta 1 Antibody [MT593] and Anti-TGF beta 1 Antibody [MT517] (Biotin) bind to the LAP entity of human latent TGF beta 1. This enables direct quantification of latent TGF beta 1 in ELISA without the need for sample pre-treatment. This ELISA kit does not detect human latent TGF beta 2, human latent TGF beta 3, or bovine latent TGF beta 1. The antibodies in this ELISA kit cross-react with latent TGF beta 1 from non-human primates.
