Immunoglobulin Y is the predominant immunoglobulin found in birds. It is also found in high concentration in chicken egg yolks. IgY has some functional similarities to IgG and IgE, but there are structural and some functional differences, such as the inability of IgY to activate complement or to bind protein A or G.
