Name
Anti-Src Antibody [4F10B5]
Description
Rabbit monoclonal [4F10B5] antibody to Src.
Specificity
This antibody recognises proto-oncogene tyrosine-protein kinase Src, also known as Src1, p60-Src and c-Src. c-Src is a ubiquitously-expressed cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase, important for regulating diverse cellular functions. c-Src was the first oncogene to be identified, over-expressed and abnormally activated in cancer cells, and is the cellular counterpart of v-Src, a cancer-causing gene found in the Rous sarcoma virus. Src functions as a complex molecular switch, which can self-modulate its activity in response to specific signals. This is achieved by a reciprocally regulatory mechanism involving Tyr416 and Tyr527, changing the tertiary structure of Src and controlling access to its active site.

General Notes
Rabbit anti SRC antibody recognizes proto-oncogene tyrosine-protein kinase Src, also known as Src1, p60-Src and c-Src. c-Src is a ubiquitously-expressed cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase, important for regulating diverse cellular functions (Honda et al. 2018). c-Src was the first oncogene to be identified, over-expressed and abnormally activated in cancer cells, and is the cellular counterpart of v-Src, a cancer-causing gene found in the Rous sarcoma virus (Hunter and Sefton, 1980). Src functions as a complex molecular switch, which can self-modulate its activity in response to specific signals. This is achieved by a reciprocally regulatory mechanism involving Tyr416 and Tyr527, changing the tertiary structure of Src and controlling access to its active site (Knighton et al. 1991).
