Name
Anti-TIM 1 Antibody
Description
Rabbit polyclonal antibody to TIM 1.
Specificity
This antibody recognises T cell immunoglobulin mucin-1 (TIM-1), which was first identified as the receptor used by hepatitis A for viral entry, it is also known as the hepatitis A virus cellular receptor- HAVCR , TIM -1 also acts as a receptor for other viruses, including Dengue, Ebola and Marburg. TIM-1 is a key cell surface protein that binds TIM-4, leading to T cell proliferation and T helper type 2 (Th2) cytokine production. Two splice variants for human TIM-1 exist; TIM-1a is predominantly expressed in the liver, whilst TIM-1b is expressed in the kidney. Expression of TIM-1 in the kidney is thought to be upregulated in damaged tissue, and is thought to assist healing.TIM-1 polymorphisms are associated with susceptibility to allergy and asthma.

General Notes
Rabbit anti TIM-1 antibody detects T cell immunoglobulin mucin-1 (TIM-1), which was first identified as the receptor used by hepatitis A for viral entry, it is also known as the hepatitis A virus cellular receptor- HAVCR (Curtiss and Colgan 2007), TIM -1 also acts as a receptor for other viruses, including Dengue, Ebola and Marburg (Kondratowicz et al. 2011). Expression of TIM-1 in the kidney is thought to be upregulated in damaged tissue, and is thought to assist healing.TIM-1 polymorphisms are associated with susceptibility to allergy and asthma (Mcintire et al. 2004).
