Name
Anti-Smad3 Antibody
Description
Rabbit polyclonal antibody to Smad3.
Specificity
This antibody recognises Mothers against decapentaplegic homolog 3 (SMAD3), a 50 kDa transcriptional modulator activated by TGF-beta and activin type 1 receptor kinase,SMAD3 functions in cell proliferation, differentiation and development. Upon stimulation, SMAD3 oligomerizes with SMAD4 and translocates into the nucleus where it binds to DNA and transcription factors. SMAD3 activity induces differentiation of selected neuronal subtypes at the expense of other subtypes.Defects in SMAD3 may be a cause of colorectal cancer (Sjöblom et al. 2006).
