Description
Rabbit polyclonal antibody to Glutamate Receptor 1 (AMPA subtype).
Specificity
This antibody recognises the glutamate receptor 1 (also known as AMPA) which acts as an excitatory neurotransmitter at many synapses in the central nervous system. Binding of the excitatory neurotransmitter L-glutamate induces a conformation change, leading to the opening of the cation channel, and thereby converts the chemical signal to an electrical impulse. The receptor then desensitizes rapidly and enters a transient inactive state, characterized by the presence of bound agonist.This antibody linked to immobilized Protein A immunoprecipitates detergent-solubilized receptor from brain or transfected cells.

Dilutions
IHC-Fr: 1 µg/ml - 3 µg/ml, WB: 0.5 µg/ml - 2.5 µg/ml, Paraformaldehyde or paraformaldehyde/glutaraldehyde are suitable. Cryostat and vibratome sections can be used with or without Triton X-100 treatment. Western blot analysis of rat brain shows a single band of approximately 110 kDa co-migrating with GluR1 expressed in transfected cells.
