Name
Anti-c-Fos Antibody
Description
Rabbit polyclonal antibody to c-Fos.
Specificity
This antibody recognises c-Fos also known as G0/G1 switch regulatory protein 7 (G0S7). The c-Fos transcription factor is encoded by the c-Fos proto-oncogene and dimerizes with c-Jun, JDP and ATF family members to form the AP-1 transcription factor. c-Fos plays an essential role in mediating cellular signaling responses after cellular stress. The ability of the c-Fos protein to act as a transcription factor is regulated by phosphorylation on selected sites by the kinases p38, ERK, RSK1 and RSK2. The protein accumulates in the nucleus, where it acts as a transcription factor upon formation of heterodimers with c-Jun. This binding prevents the nuclear export and subsequent proteosomal degradation of c-Fos (Halazonetiset al. 1988).
