This antibody recognises FACT complex subunit SPT16.SPT16 is part of the FACT (facilitates chromatin transcription) complex that specifically interacts with histones H2A/H2B to initiate nucleosome disassembly and transcription elongation. SPT16 has been shown to be essential for nucleosome disruption and assembly on individual rDNA genes. Mutations in SPT16 result in defective nucleosome disruption and inability to fully activate pol I transcription when cells exit the S phase of the cell cycle.
