Name
Anti-Aldosterone Antibody [BGN/10/4213 (1-3.2)]
Description
Mouse monoclonal [BGN/10/4213 (1-3.2)] antibody to Aldosterone.
Specificity
This antibody recognises Aldosterone, a steroid hormone from the mineralocorticoid family that is produced in the adrenal gland by the outer-section of the adrenal cortex, to regulate the body's electrolyte and water balance. Aldosterone is synthesized from cholesterol by aldosterone synthase, which is absent in other sections of the adrenal gland. It acts directly on the kidney to decrease the rate of sodium-ion excretion (with accompanying retention of water), and to increase the rate of potassium-ion excretion. This antibody shows less than 0.01% cross-reactivity with Androstenedione, Corticosterone, DHEA and Deoxcorticosterone.
