This antibody recognises homeobox protein NANOG, otherwise known as homeobox transcription factor NANOG.NANOG plays a role in the proliferation and self-renewal of embryonic stem (ES) cells and prevents their differentiation towards extraembryonic endoderm and trophectoderm lineages. Overexpression of NANOG has been shown to promote cells to enter into S phase and proliferation.
