Stem Cell Research Tools

Stem cells are unspecialised cells that have the ability to develop into a wide range of somatic, differentiated cells. Under the correct physiological (or experimental) conditions, stems cells can develop into every type of tissue; this makes them a subject of great interest to researchers, due to their vast therapeutic potential.

Embryonic stem cells (ESC's) are pluripotent, with the potential to develop into every type of tissue, while adult stems cells, which reside in tissues and have limited differentiation potential, are defined as multipotent; they can self-renew, even after long periods of quiescence, and differentiate via symmetrical or asymmetrical division.

Under certain conditions, terminally differentiated cells can be reprogrammed back into pluripotent stem cells, known as induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), which also have the ability to develop into every type of tissue. The therapeutic potential of stem cells is currently being investigated for a number of diseases, including: Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, cancer, Crohn’s disease, and rheumatoid arthritis.

We offer a comprehensive portfolio of antibodies, proteins, and assays for stem cell research that exhibit high specificity, activity, performance, and reproducibility in a range of techniques, including: Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), and ELISA.
