Lucas is a scientist who has worked for over a decade on various projects, mostly focused on immunology, from HIV to diabetes and cancer to dermatitis, within academia and industry. He received his PhD at Queen Mary University of London in gastroenterology looking at the role of enteroendocrine cells in regulating immunity and satiety in obesity. Outside of his lab work, Lucas enjoys writing and teaching, bringing science to a wider audience.
Characterization of memory B cells requires markers such as CD27, CD73 and CD80 to differentiate memory B cells from plasma cells and other B cells...
This guide explores markers for mast cells, including c-Kit (CD117), CD13, tryptase and histamine, used to characterize mast cell development and function...
Natural Killer (NK) cell markers, such as CD56, CD16, CD57 and NKp80, are used to characterize NK subsets, development, and cytotoxic potential...
Memory T cells can be divided based on their circulation: Tem, Trm and Tcm. Cell surface marker and cytokine expression reflects the differences in these subsets...
Characterization of T follicular helper (Tfh) cells requires combinations of surface and cytokine markers to study their role in B cell activity and disease...
Characterization of Th1, Th2 and Th17 cells requires combinations of different surface and cytokine markers to study their role in immunostasis and disease...
Accurate characterization of cytotoxic T cells requires combinations of surface and cytokine markers to differentiate from other T cell subsets...
Endothelial cell markers such as CD31, PECAM1, LYVE1, CD146, CD34 and VWF identify epithelial cell populations, their activity and disease state...
Epithelial cell markers such as CEA, EpCAM, keratins, MUC1 and E-cadherin identify epithelial cell populations, their activity and disease state...
